The Masterminds
Behind Fruit Salon

Erica Dixon is a multidisciplinary creative person based in Oakland, CA, whose work bridges visual art practice and social impact. With a background in community development, arts and culture organizing, and impact investing, Erica seeks to inspire connection, inclusivity, and creative collaboration in her work across disciplines. Her art practice integrates drawing and painting, clay sculpture, and gatherings, reflecting a deep commitment to feminist and queer perspectives. In addition to her studio practice, Erica works with small businesses on accessing capital and scaling sustainably through her role at ICA Fund. Most times you can find her enjoying life with family and friends, wandering the East Bay hills, and appreciating the Bay Area’s abundant food culture.

Gracie Schatz has been in the food industry for over fifteen years and currently works as the head chef and culinary manager at 18 Reasons - a food justice non-profit in the heart of the Mission. Before she became a cook, she studied fine arts at the University of Oregon where she focused on ceramics and printmaking. Her career path took a turn when she fell head over heels in love with cooking but she has always maintained a quiet art practice on the side. She is deeply curious about how food and art have the power to soften barriers and forge connections and is eager to watch this unfold as Fruit Salon evolves.

Ceramics by Latch Key

Fruit Salon’s still life scenarios are interspersed with ceramics by Latch Key, a limited-run ceramic studio based in Oakland. Designer Whitney Sharpe creates ceramic adornments for ceremony, the body and home. Every piece is a meditation, delicately sculpted with intention- reflective of the present. Whitney uses clay as a vehicle to translate concepts via structure and form, lending the process of discovery to be imbued within each piece created.

Latch Key will have a special pop-up during Fruit Salon. More details coming soon…
